Meet Kym

Kym Kuzmic is a teacher, artist, writer, conflict resolution specialist, and cultural historian.

She taught high school for more than a decade, offering classes in History/ Social Studies, English Language Arts, Journalism, Art, and Poetry.

She studied American Studies at University of California Santa Cruz, and focused on Ethnic and Gender Studies. Inspired by historians Ronald Takaki and Howard Zinn, and studying with professors like Bettina Aptheker, Marge Frantz and John Brown Childs, she learned that history is best told from the ground up, by studying the various groups that make up this country.

Using oral history and historical and cultural research as tools, she helps individuals, families and groups paint a picture of their lives, weaving their stories into the larger tapestry of American and world history and culture.

In her conflict transformation work, she assists schools, groups and individuals in resolving conflicts and in implementing restorative and inclusive practices. She teaches healthy communication and conflict resolution skills, with the aim of helping people of various backgrounds and identities understand and connect in a better way.
